Old Math

If the movie Hidden Figures is at all historically accurate, they solved their unsolvable navigation issue with Euler's Method, which is called old math in the movie.

Astrology is old math for mapping the gravitational ripples we need to understand for navigating between planets, like a sailing ship on the sea.

An astrological chart is a geocentric map of the solar system full of notes about interactions between the gravitational wakes and eddies of other heavenly bodies as we experience those gravitational pressures on Earth.

You just need to translate it to a space flight navigation tool.

It already has a rich history of observations of turbulence, dead zones, high pressure zones, harmonic confluence etc. Figuring out how to translate thousands of years of observations such as "When planets change direction, you are in for a bumpy few days." to space weather flight turbulence will give you access to a wealth of existing knowledge about gravitational sea waves, so to speak.

House of Style

I defy every color typing system I have ever run across. Rest assured if some particular typing system doesn't work for you, I am sympathetic. No color system works for me, but my astrological chart fits my colors. So, weirdly, I found astrology helpful for sorting out my wardrobe, of all things. I briefly had a separate site for talking about astrology and fashion. This post is step one in the process of folding that information into this site and shutting that one down. That site was a half baked idea for a long time and was finally being developed because I am fleshing out my ideas for a clothing line that's been a half baked idea for even longer. That site was originally envisioned as my latest attempt to try to figure out how to make money via my knowledge of astrology that never turned into a viable business idea, as noted here recently . You can use your Natal astrological chart to try to look your best by looking primarily at your Rising Sign and any factors re...

Japan -- A Funny Little Hypothesis

My understanding is that most Japanese do not believe in Western astrology and, yet, it's a common topic of discussion. They routinely tell people what their Sun sign is in casual conversation. I think most likely what is going on there is that they don't find it threatening because they don't take it seriously, so it's a good topic for making small talk, and it also solves a somewhat unique social challenge for them. In Japanese language and culture, my understanding is you address people using honorifics on a routine basis and there is a long list of honorifics to choose from. Which one is correct depends in part on which of you is older. All well, fine and good except that it's rude to ask someone their age or birth date. So how does one determine who is older and who is younger? Sometimes this is obvious. A child addressing a grown-up, for example. Anyone can tell at a glance who is older and who is younger. But what if you are all school children in t...

Aries Rising

I have an Aries Rising Sign with several exact aspects to it and Aries rules hair. In line with that, I have great hair and my hair has a life and mind of its own. In my youth, I felt I had difficult hair. It was naturally wavy, except in one spot in front where it was mostly straight and this helped make hairstyles challenging. It was also fragile and got fried if I used a hair dryer too much or curling iron.  Under the David Kibbe typing system, I'm a Soft Dramatic. Kibbe recommends a slightly asymmetrical hairstyle for Soft Dramatics and that works well for me in part because it helps hide the weirdness where this one patch of hair is less curly. Or was.  In recent months, my hair has decided to go mostly STRAIGHT all over for the first time ever as a fun new trick for reasons I cannot fathom beyond: My hair has always just done whatever it felt like doing without consulting me while people complimented me on "dying" it or "adding highlights" and I struggled ...
